History Of The Vauxhall Movano

The largest of Vauxhalls light commercial vehicles, the Movano began production in 1998. Like several of Vauxhalls other LCV ventures, the Movano is a joint initiative between General Motors, Renault and Nissan. As a result, the Renault Master, the Nissan Interstar and the Nissan NV400 all share some striking similarities with the Movano.

The first generation of the Vauxhall Movano van appeared back in 1998 as the Movano A. This first model served in commercial fleets up and down the country for 12 years and remained almost unchanged, bar a slight facelift and update in 2003.

In 2010 the Vauxhall Movano B light commercial vehicle was released. A completely overhauled version of its predecessor, the Movano B is the van you will see hard at work on British roads to this day. Following suit, Renault also overhauled their similar Master vehicle, while Nissan decided to drop the Interstar brand and unveiled the NV200.

The modernised Movano van features a wheelbase of 4332mm, translating to an overall length of 6198mm. Combine this with an overall width and height of 2070mm and 2488mm respectively, you begin to see the true size of this rather hefty vehicle. This is one of the reasons Movanos have been so frequently adapted for use as ambulance and camper van conversions.
