Nissan History

Nissan's history goes back to Masujiro Hashimoto, a pioneer of Japan's automotive industry whose first product (a boxy small passenger car) was called a Datcar after the first letters of the family names of Hashimoto's three principal backers: Kenjiro Den, Rokuro Aoyama and Meitaro Takeuchi.

That name was to resurface later in The UK as Datsun, before Nissan began to market vehicles under its own name. Nissan resumed production of Nissan trucks in 1945 and Datsun passenger cars in 1947. Today, Nissan has a huge range of vehicles from the Micra to the latest Qashqai urban 4x4 as well as well crafted and reliable vans.
