History Of The Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger is the Ford Motor Companys pickup truck vehicle. A rarer sight on British roads than Fords more traditional commercial vehicles such as the Transit the Ranger is still a relative newcomer when compared to that venerable fleet of vans.

First appearing on the other side of the Atlantic in 1982, the Ford Ranger had been through three different generations by time a version surfaced over here. The 1998 Ford Ranger was the first to be available to markets outside of North and South America and was based on the Japanese built Mazda B-Series pickup.

Since then, the internationally available version of the Ford Ranger has been through four more re-incarnations, culminating in 2011s Ford Ranger T6. The T6 represented an overhaul in the Ranger series and saw a completely new platform for the vehicle.

With a wheelbase of 2985mm translating to an overall length of 5075mm, the Ranger is just shy of the length of the Ford Transit MWB model. This being a pickup truck and tailored to very specific uses, the loadspace to the rear of the vehicle is far below what youd expect to find on a standard van.

However, its no slouch either. Measuring 2280mm by 1456mm most will find the cargo compartment more than adequate.
